A multinational producer of fertilizers, metals and special-purpose chemicals retained FIR to help reverse a preliminary decision in a U.S. government anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation that imposed anti-dumping duties on its magnesium imports into the United States.
We developed a series of messages and proof points aimed at educating government decision makers about the merits of the case and the history of the client’s investments in the U.S. Working closely with the client’s internal and external counsel, we coordinated a broad outreach campaign aimed at key players at the Department of Commerce, the International Trade Administration, and relevant committees in both chambers of Congress that have jurisdiction over trade and tariff issues.
We also approached specific lawmakers whose congressional districts had seen significant investment by the client or housed their manufacturing facilities to build the broadest possible coalition of support from elected officials that could help prevent an adverse decision from being issued.
